President Havel spoke about the historic role of the Czech region in European affairs and the need to redefine regional and international institutions to deal with the new situation in Europe. His remarks were translated from Czech to English by voiceover. This was a gathering of European and U.S. political and business leaders to discuss a “New Atlantic Initiative” to promote economic growth and political stability in Europe.
