The war in Ukraine is a catastrophe of such scale that it threatens to suck in the whole world like a whirlpool. Putin is a criminal. The Russian Federation is an aggressor country. Belarus, my country, is an accomplice of the aggressor. But today the entire global community must see and acknowledge its responsibility in the unfolding crisis. This requires urgent dialogue. Not only a dialogue between armies or politicians, but also between thinkers, scientists, people of culture, and representatives of religious communities. Sanctions against the aggressor and military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine are vital, but they alone will not stop the escalation of violence.
